We (Alex and Ben) founded DirtRoadTrip in 2014 as a fun way to share our adventures, advice, and opinions, with the hope that (a) people would check it out and enjoy it, and (b) maybe go on some 4×4 adventures of their own!
DirtRoadTrip Co-Founders
Alex is a lifelong Washington, DC area native who established a track record for risk taking and adventure when he attempted to perform and unsuccessfully land a backflip on his bike at the age of 10. He has since become an avid outdoorsman and traveler who has spent countless hours hiking and exploring the backcountry. His first exposure to off-road adventure travel came through the purchase of his first Land Rover and he has not been able to stay out of the dirt ever since. Alex is currently based out of McLean, Virginia where he lives with his wife Maria and their dog Coco, he is also the worlds biggest Maple Creemee fan.
Ben is a finance industry desk warrior during the week, but spends his weekends and vacation time exploring the best in off-road travel, scenery, and local culture. Ben got his first real taste for “overland style” adventure while living in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where there was plenty of outdoor adventures to be had, but not many places to actually drive. Since moving to the Washington, DC area in 2010 and getting the 4runner, Ben completed several cross-country “dirtroadtrips” as well as countless weekend adventures throughout the mid-Atlantic U.S. Ben lives in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife Rebecca and their dogs Huckleberry and Kasey.
