The first major modification to get checked off the list is a 3M vinyl wrap, because sometimes caring about your paint isn’t such a bad thing. As many of you already know, we’re in the process of having a 3M vinyl wrap expertly installed on our JK Unlimited Rubicon by our friends over at GearOne Performance. After sitting on the fence for a few weeks I finally decided to pull the trigger and now that the pictures are flowing in, I’m glad I made the call.
This is the last stock photo you’ll ever see of her, and probably the last time you’ll see her in white for the foreseeable future. While I could have gotten another color instead of wrapping the truck, I think the pro’s of going vinyl greatly outweigh standard paint. For starters, I don’t have to worry about pinstripes, it’ll prevent rock chips on the highway, and it just looks awesome.
As you can see a good vinyl wrap job isn’t for the feint of heart because you’ll essentially have to disassemble the entire vehicle (something that is a lot easier to do on a Wrangler). For this reason, along with the tricky panels and body welds, I recommend you get a pro to do this. This isn’t a driveway job that should be undertaken by Dremel Dan, especially when you have to spend almost a thousand dollars for just the material.
Keep an eye out next week for the complete install, for now you’ll just have to wait for the awesomeness.
