Trasharoo: Long Term Review

July 7, 2014 by Alex 3 Comments

Quite easily the best mod for under $50, the Trasharoo is an affordable and simple piece of kit that does a lot more than just hold garbage.

The Trasharoo is exactly what it sounds like, a trash bag for your truck. It’s capable of holding 50 lbs of weight, and mounts easily to your spare tire. I like to think of the Trasharoo as another piece of storage for my rig, but my fiance’ more commonly refers to it as my cute truck backpack, so be forewarned.

Install is a breeze, and you can easily mount the unit to your spare tire in under a minute utilizing the factory straps. It’s also designed to fit tires up to 40″ in diameter so only our friends in Iceland might have a problem mounting one to their spare.

I’ve come to really love the Trasharoo, not only does it keeps garbage (and associated smells) out of the truck, but it can also be used to carry fire wood, and in a pinch you can throw 2 bags of ice in there with a case of beer.

For the past 2 years the Trasharoo has survived every type of weather from sub-zero temperatures to hundred degree heat. The only thing you’ll notice after a year is that the color will start to fade from the exposure to the sun and elements. You’ll also notice that you’ll start to pick up trash along the trail that others have left behind.

A common question I’m always asked is do I worry about it getting stolen, and all I can say is that the only time it ever came off the Land Cruiser was for me to move it to the Jeep, so my answer is no. Most of the time there are a few bags of dog crap in there anyway, so if someone wants it bad enough they can enjoy everything that I’ve left in there for them.

So if you’re looking for a good way to add some storage and utility to your rig you can’t beat the value of a Trasharoo, plus your truck will look substantially cuter with a little backpack.

If you are camping (or even just travelling) with a kid in diapers, the Trasharoo is one of the greatest!

I agree with you 100%, it’s nice to get the stink out of the truck no matter what it is.
