Is it just me, or do all Tacoma owners share a love for racks? Oregon Design Racks have came to us with a budget friendly, modular rack system to give us more storage and mounting options.
When it comes to an overlanding platform, storage is key. We try to fit the largest items in the smallest of spaces and try to continuously fit more! With Tacoma owners in mind, our beds are typically the center of the jokes, whether its how small it is or how much we can’t fit in it. A great solution to that is to have an overlanding bed rack platform.
Oregon Racks has been around the expo scene for quite some time now, and the new Mt. Hood load bar system offers a great platform to start making your space more useful. The Mt. Hood load bar system is a completely bolt together system (no welds and ships in a smaller box). This is the Ultimate Bed Rack system for your 05+Tacoma; utilizing the factory bed rail slides for mounting, you can carry your RTT (roof top tent), Kayaks or what ever it may be.. The Low Pro rack sits just over 10″ off the bed rails. Oregon Racks also has extruded aluminum t-slot crossbars that can be mounted to the top or sides of the Load bar system, which then gives you even more versatility on mounting all of your overland gear!
Installation took all of about 30 minutes from unboxing to having the system on the truck, and can easily be done by one person. Currently, we have our system outfitted with our CVT RTT and soon will be mounting the round tube crossbars to accommodate our Hi-Lift jack and tools. When mounting a RTT, be sure to check how your tent mounts to a rack, with CVT it was easy. We were able to mount through the load bars, creating a solid mounting platform and no movement.
We are ready to get this out on the trails this summer and fall and see how it holds up long term. We will be reviewing the durability, hardware, usability and even the powder coat.
