2014 JK – Fox Shocks Install

November 7, 2014 by Alex Leave a Comment

In case you didn’t know we’re crazy about suspension here at DirtRoadTrip, here’s our latest mod to the 2014 JK courtesy of our friends over at FOX.

After getting tired of having such awesome suspension components sitting in my living room, I finally managed to find some time to install our new FOX Factory Series Internal Bypass Shocks.

When these shocks showed up I was like a kid on Christmas morning, and my lovely Fiance’ looked at me like the kid that got a box full of socks.

The first thing you’ll say to yourself when you open the box is “Damn these shocks are sexy!” they look so good that you could put them up on your wall and your friends will admire your taste in art.

For this install I made my way down to Forge Specialties in Fredericksburg, VA which is owned by our friends Vince and Nate. They’ve been hitting the trails longer than we have, and have easily spent more time wrenching on trucks than I’ve spent drinking beer.

Mechanics love it when you bring your truck in dirty!

Installation of the shocks is pretty straight forward on the Jeep especially when you have a lift and the right tools.

FOX ships the front shocks with brackets and tie downs, they require some minor drilling to install, but other than that it’s a straight bolt on affair.

The FOX shocks perfectly compliment the AEV 3.5″ DualSport SC suspension setup, and they both function perfectly together without any clearance issues.

I haven’t spent much time tuning the shocks, but so far for highway driving it’s been great. I’ve noticed a substantial difference in handling, and the ride comfort has increased substantially compared to the AEV shocks.

Vince did an excellent job on the install and if you’re local to the area you should swing by and check out the shop.

We’re planning on hitting some dirt before the end of the month so I’ll have an update on how they handle off-road.

We’d like to give a big thank you to FOX and Forge Specialties for continuing to support the enthusiast community.

Here are the part numbers for the shocks:

  • 883-06-068 Factory Series Internal Bypass – Adjustable Front
  • 883-06-069 Factory Series Internal Bypass – Adjustable Rear
