Installing a vinyl wrap onto a JK isn’t for the faint of heart, so we sent it off to the professionals and we’re very happy with how it turned out.
We sent the 2014 Jeep off to the guys at GearOne Performance for a full 3m vinyl wrap in matte indigo. They Jeep was a departure from their normal high end Subaru builds, but they also do top notch vinyl work and were happy to accept the challenge.
They started off by washing the entire truck and removing all of the factory badges and decals (including the ugly factory pinstripe). This step is the most crucial because any surface imperfections will immediately show through the vinyl.
Then they proceeded to take the entire truck apart, and I’m not talking your typical jeep take down which includes doors and the roof. I’m talking everything. The guys at GearOne had to remove the doors, roof, hood, grill, fenders, tailgate, and a whole bunch of other parts. Be prepared to break some clips, and find some of Jeep’s awesome quality control.
Tom is the wrap expert at GearOne, and he easily spent over 30 man hours working on the Wrangler. Some of the challenges he had to overcome were the numerous exposed welds and seams on the body. His dedication to a quality product really shows when you see how far he went to wrap the body panels and door jams to maintain a factory look.
We did have to give in a little though and paint all of the door hinges because vinyl just wouldn’t cut it. We made the call after realizing that the vinyl would have been pretty fragile and lets be honest, it wouldn’t last very long with me behind the wheel.
The final product turned out great, I love the way the truck looks and I have yet to see another Jeep wrapped in matte indigo. If you’re considering a vinyl wrap I would definitely give the guys at GearOne a call, I don’t think I would have had the patience to take this job on myself.

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Firefox.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something
to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know.
The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks

Thanks guys, I think the issue has been resolved.

How many sqyd did you use
Alex says
We utilized a 60 ft roll, the rolls are 60″ wide. We had enough to wrap the whole vehicle and had plenty of extra, I would estimate you only need about 40 ft to get the job done.

What was the overall cost for the wrap?
Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Ryan, the overall cost is kind of a tricky question. You’re going to have to determine if you’re going to wrap the door jams, paint the hinges, and decide on your brand of vinyl.
I can tell you that you should expect to pay about 1200-2000 for material and factor in about 40 hours of labor.
So expect to pay in the range of 3000-4000 to have a good shop do it but if you’re handy there’s no reason you can’t do it in your garage.
