Overland Expo East is finally here! We rolled in late this afternoon around 6PM to an already buzzing scene where there are probably already approaching 1,000 attendees already on site (our swag estimate, could be more).
As far as getting to the Expo – I could hardly wait. I got up at 5:15 AM and put in 3 hours of driving from Northern VA before 9AM. I took a couple-hour pause to get some work done, and then met up with friends Mark, Jason, Lindsay, Brian, and Ashley to caravan the rest of the way down. Not being in a hurry, we decided to stop by famed Bristol Motor Speedway on the way down – lucky for us, the gates were open, and we could look in on this piece of stock car racing heaven in “Thunder Valley”.
We were all excited to roll into Expo, and the mood all around Taylor Ranch (the venue) is very friendly and energetic. We found a great camping spot on high ground (the forecast calls for rain Friday) and we’ve already met a bunch of new people as well as re-c0nnected with old friends. Tomorrow starts early with classes, presentations, and vendors galore.
This is going to be a GREAT weekend, rain or shine. If you are already here at Expo or headed here later this weekend, make sure to swing by and say hi!
