You heard that right…After a couple years of hearing how awesome the King of the Hammers is, this year I’m gonna see for myself.
For those of you unfamiliar – the King of the Hammers was first held in 2007, and has evolved into a week-long spectacle featuring moto, UTV, modified-stock, and Ultra4 car racing. The Ultra4 cars are the headline act – combining hardcore rock crawling and desert racing in a 140-mile long race to be held this Friday, February 6. The UTVs (think Polaris RZR) race Wednesday and the modified stocks race on Thursday.
I’ll be flying out West to Tucson, AZ Tuesday night and rolling out early on Wednesday with my brother-in-law Ethan. While I’m bummed not to have the 4Runner with me, we will be well equipped for off-roading in Johnson Valley – rolling in Ethan’s Ford Raptor and trailering his Polaris RZR – that thing absolutely rips in the desert.
Make sure you’re keeping up with DirtRoadTrip on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter as I’ll be posting up all the action as I see from Hammertown and from the race course itself. If you are going to King of the Hammers as well – hit me up! I’ll have plenty of stickers and cookies for DirtRoadTrippers in Johnson Valley!
In addition to our updates, be sure to check out coverage live at ultra4racing.com or on our very own DirtRoadTrip hompage.
