If you ask your significant other if you can attend and outdoor show on Valentines Day and she says yes, go buy a ring and a lottery ticket.
Maria and I headed up to Harrisburg, PA early Saturday morning to check out the show and see some friends we knew would be there. This was definitely one of our more unorthodox Valentines Day celebrations, but I wasn’t about to complain.
The Great American Outdoor Show is the largest outdoor show in the United States, it featured over 1,000 exhibitors that were spread out over 650,000 square feet of pure 100% Murica’.
After wondering around in all the wonderful glory, we finally found the Henwood brothers surrounded by their Four Wheel Campers and Adventure Trailer setups. We swapped some stories, checked out the campers, and left with an itch to buy a full size truck…
Right across the way we were able to touch base with our friends at OzTent. Justin had flown in from the West Coast, and their CEO Luke made the trip all the way from Australia. They had one impressive setup with every model out on display. We also got to check out their new Side Kick table/stool/foot rest, and their new LED light strip. OzTent is definitely making a larger push in to the US Market, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of their gear stateside.
After wandering around the show and seeing everything from the new Chevy Colorado to a trout fishing tournament, we wandered into the Rinse Kit booth. The Rinse Kit is a portable pressurized shower system with a 2 gallon reservoir that provides 4 minutes of continuous spray. It’s pressurized by simply connecting it to your home garden hose or utilizing a bike pump. It’s a great little setup that’s perfect for overland travel and I can see it being used not only for showering but for cleaning dishes, hosing off boots, and giving the pup a bath.
If you’re looking to spend a day and would like to get your hands on every product available in the outdoor industry, take the time to travel up to Harrisburg next year. We had a great time, and there really is something for everyone, unless you don’t like freedom and fish tanks the size of tractor trailers. If you fall into the latter category though you might want to stay at home.
