When the guys over at Red Cloud Off Road invited us to attend their Fisher House Foundation Charity Run we knew we couldn’t miss out on a great day of wheeling for an even greater cause. The Fisher House Foundation supports military veterans and their families by providing them with comfortable homes while a loved one is receiving treatment. Since 1990 the Fisher House has served over 220,000 military families and have saved them an estimated $235 million in out-of-pocket expenses.
On this beautiful Saturday we had more than forty trucks come out to support the Fisher House in everything from CJ5 Jeeps to LR3 Land Rovers (they arrived and left under their own power).
After the standard safety briefing (aka if you’re going to cry if you break something, go home now) and rundown of the event, we loaded up and hit the trails.
We started off the morning with Picasso and the Hammer, it gave everyone a nice little warm up of what to expect on the trails.
Tony even found some time to get a little air and show off some flex.
The highlight of the day had to have been driving the rigs up Eagle. Pictures don’t do this hill justice, it’s so steep that we had to climb up on all fours, and even then we were still struggling. Going down was even more fun, just ask the FJ Cruiser.
We spent a total of 8 hours running around Red Cloud, if you haven’t been out there yet, what are you waiting for? We had a great time (even though we didn’t win anything in the raffle) and can’t wait to get back there again soon.
