“Overlanders” all over the east coast are starting to pack their rigs and Land Rover owners are renewing their AAA memberships in preparation for the 2015 Fall Event Season.
This year, as in years past, DirtRoadTrip is planning on attending all three. This means we’ll be driving over 2,600 miles over a period of three weekends, from the hills of North Carolina to the mountains of Vermont.
So where exactly are we going?
American Adventurist’s Appalachian Rendezvous
When: September 25-27
Where: Uwharrie Off-Road Training Center – Uwharrie, NC
What To Expect: 3 days of dutch oven cooking, kayaking, mountain biking, and of course hitting the trails of Big Creek Off-Road Training Center and the Uwharrie National Forest.
Why You Should Go: Think of this as a family reunion, except everyone is that cool uncle you always look forward to seeing, not the drunk one that tells way to many bad dad jokes. The Rendezvous is a super casual atmosphere where you’ll get a chance to hit the trails and sample some amazing food at the potluck.

Overland Expo East
When: October 2-4
Where: Taylor Ranch – Asheville, NC
What To Expect: 3 days of lectures, classes, a Land Rover driving event, and every piece of “Overland” equipment you’ve ever seen, wanted to see, or drooled over on the internet.
Why You Should Go: Expo East is the SEMA of the overlanding world, if you’ve never been out west and don’t think you can make the time commitment, Expo East is the next best thing. You’ll get to put your hands on every piece of equipment you’ve ever imagined and the classes are taught by some of the most experienced people in the industry, including our own Mark Farage.

Vermont Overland Rally
When: October 8-11
Where: Lillie Brook Farm – Rockingham, VT
What To Expect: The VOR features quite possibly the best trail network on the east coast along with arguably some of the best beer. There are vendors and good friends, and it can best be described as a cross between the Rendezvous and Expo East.
Why You Should Go: If Expo East is the SEMA of the overland industry, VOR is the Burning Man. Come to Vermont to hit the beautiful trail network, meet the Vermont Overland team, and participate in the shenanigans around the fire. If you’ve never been to Vermont before, you’re missing out.
