After months of anticipation…the inaugural Overland Expo East is upon us! Thursday mid-afternoon I’ll power down the work laptop, fire up the 4Runner, and work my way Southwest to Asheville, NC for 3 full days of Overland Nirvana. Alex will follow a bit later, heading down in the JK Rubicon on Friday.
This is shaping up to be a big, well organized event…I’ve been eagerly poring over the 36-page (yes, you read that correctly) program guide to get a sense of what all there will be to do and see. On chance that I fail to absorb 100% of the program guide, Overland Expo East has its own Mobile App (the “Mobile Event Guide”) to keep us all organized and informed. Nice.
Taylor Ranch in Fletcher, NC is home to Overland Expo East
If it ends up anything like what we’ve heard about the original Overland Expo in Arizona, the Eastern event will provide huge bang-for-the-buck in sheer volume and quality of Classes, Demos, Slideshows, and Vendors. We are equally looking forward to some of the more informal attractions of Expo – the comaraderie of like-minded adventurists, a huge variety of awesome Expo Rigs, and undoubtedly some great food and drink.
We will be soaking it all in and posting, tweeting, and instagramming all weekend long for those of you that can’t make it this year. For those of you that will be there (and there’s alot!), look out for Alex and I running around with cameras in hand, or at least stop by our camp – we’ll be hard to miss with the DirtRoadTrip Flag flying over the 4Runner and Jeep!
