Snow Peak Chopping Board Set Review

December 5, 2014 by Ben 4 Comments

One of the highlights of any trip to the backcountry for us is preparing a meal at camp.  We’re not alone in that, as evidenced by all of the companies that specialize in the niche of creating camp cooking products.  There’s a lot of good stuff out there, but few are as good as Snow Peak at crafting highly functional, yet beautiful products.

The latest addition to our growing Snow Peak collection is something that I’ve coveted from afar for quite some time – the large Snow Peak Chopping Board set.  Consisting of a folding cutting board with a full-sized chef’s knife that nests inside when folded – this unit was seemingly designed just for guys like us.  We got our hands on one a few weeks ago and gave it an inaugural try-out during an overnighter in West Virginia.

The board, which measures 14.1”x9.3” is large enough for most camp jobs.  The knife is razor sharp, plenty large, and feels good in the hand.  In terms of performance, yes the knife cuts well, and yes the board provides a good cutting surface, not really a whole lot else to say about it.  The main appeal of the set is the mesh of form and function.  Fortunately, the price isn’t too guilt inducing – MSRP is $55.95 for the set.  Consider it a perfect gift for that special someone with an unhealthy infatuation for beautiful gear.

SnowPeak recommends occasional washing with light soap, and for you to rub the top with a small amount of olive oil.
